To whom it may concern,
I am writing to provide clarity regarding my portfolio and curriculum. I want to ensure that all information related to my work, whether present on this website or any other portfolio/curriculum, is entirelly accurate in documenting all my past work.
In my portfolio, the Sculpture "Burned Cork Resilience" was first presented at the 2021 Berlin Masters Award finalists exhibition.
This is a public competition where 10 finalist Berlin based artists are selected to showcase their recent work in a final collective exhibition.
Two awards were given at a public ceremony - the Toy award and the Schliemann residency award, the later one includes a scholarship and artist residency.
On September 5th of the year 2021, I was awarded the Berlin Masters Schliemann Residency Award at a public ceremony, that took place after a presencial visit from the Jury. This information can be verified through several online sources, official documents and screenshots provided on this website page, as well as the BLM website and this official Instagram post here.
Unfortunately, the organisation later made drastic changes to the initial agreement by renouncing to give the scholarship and only offering basic conditions and residency accommodation. Despite contacting the BLM organisation, I have never received a reply and was forced to decline the residency.
They later offered the residency to another finalist artist without any further notice. Since then the information on their website has been partially changed and unclear, which has been a professional concern for me.
Through this statement, I want to make it clear that I have never presented false information regarding any of my past works, including the "Berlin Masters Award", therefore this information is mentioned in the documentary video regarding the work "Burned Cork Resilience" as well as my curriculum in general.
The Berlin Masters Foundation has received internal criticism for their conduct, but they have never replied, neither correct their mistakes. In the meantime, I find that is fundamental to emphasise that my work was one of the two winners of this public competition, by the full consensus of the Jury. Such results cannot be erased or ignored.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Gil Delindro
